The Beginning

Born out of deep compassion and devotion, Gau Seva Dham is not merely an institution — it is a divine emotion, a heartfelt expression of love and gratitude towards Gau Mata (the sacred cow).

The inspiration for this noble initiative arose when Pujya Devi Chitralekhaji witnessed the pain of abandoned, injured, and sick cows struggling for survival on the streets. Moved by their suffering, she resolved to create a sanctuary where no cow would ever be left helpless again — a place where service becomes worship and compassion becomes action.

Thus, on May 26, 2013, in the sacred land of Hodal, Haryana, the foundation of Gau Seva Dham was laid.

What began as a small shelter for a few cows has now grown into a vast, modern, and free Cow Care and Veterinary Hospital, serving hundreds of cows and animals every single day.

The Service

At Gau Seva Dham, every rescued cow receives complete medical care, nourishment, and rehabilitation.
A team of dedicated veterinarians, nurses, and volunteers works around the clock to ensure that every life is treated with respect and love.

The institution operates 24×7 ambulance services that rescue injured and abandoned cows from roads and bring them safely to the hospital.
Equipped with Operation Theatres, ICU, X-ray, Ultrasound, and Physiotherapy Units, Gau Seva Dham stands as India’s first full-fledged, ultra-modern Cow Hospital, offering world-class medical facilities at no cost.

“Gau Mata is not merely a symbol of religion; she is the living embodiment of compassion. A society that protects and serves its mothers is truly blessed by the grace of God.”

World’s First Multi-Storey Cow Hospital.

Taking this mission of service forward, Gau Seva Dham is now developing into the World’s First Multi-Storey Cow Hospital — a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to animal welfare. Each floor of this upcoming hospital will focus on specialized departments such as critical care, surgery, rehabilitation, and research.
This project aims not only to treat animals but also to serve as a center for education, awareness, and compassion for all living beings.

Mission & Vision

  • The mission of Gau Seva Dham goes far beyond medical treatment. It seeks to instill compassion and consciousness in society — to remind every human being that service to the helpless is the highest form of worship.
  • Guided by Pujya Devi Chitralekhaji, the organization has saved the lives of thousands of cows and inspired countless people across India to join the cause of selfless service.
  • Its philosophy rests on a timeless truth — “Serving life in any form is serving God Himself.”

The Path Ahead

  • Gau Seva Dham envisions a future where similar Model Cow Hospitals will be established across India — centers that extend care not only to cows but to all creatures in need, including stray dogs and birds.
  • Its mission is rooted in the belief that every living being is sacred, and through service, humanity connects directly with divinity.
